Im agree with ya in such points
I know that ya can improve yr selfe by reading or listeng but if you are practising lang with native speakers you will get more impr***ng and developing which you cant get by reading or listening
Belive me if ya speak with a native speaker for a few mins it would more better than reading 3 or 4 pages or listening to a tape for half an hour bcz u practise the lang and ya communicate without a mediator btw each other
finally ,i agree totally with ya at last point which is using formal and informal it depends on the situation by itselfe as ya mentioned in yr example
